looking for a Sig - Summer carry | Login/Join |

I'm looking for a new Sig light weight 9mm for summer carry. I have 4 Sigs presently but all are too large or heavy for summer carry. Any suggestions. Thanks so much. www.agcustomgunleather.com

365, 365x, 365xl. Any of those would work well for this.

Thanks so much 94hokie. I've got the XL and Think it would be too large to throw in pair of short and run to the store. I check on the others. www.agcustomgunleather.com

Not sure about pocket carrying it, but have you considered taking a look at the P938? Single-stack and relatively easy to shoot and accurate enough for its mission. People with larger hands often find it a little too compact for them. __________

Gents, It's not a Sig, but for a pocket gun it's hard to beat a S & W 642! Wes

The idea of sticking a striker-fired or co*cked and locked SAO pistol in a pocket kinda skeeves me out. The P938 and P365 are both good guns, and both very easy to carry and conceal on a belt, but I don't want one in my pocket. If pocket-carry is the goal, I'll cast another vote for a Centennial J-Frame. Airweights (340, 442,642, etc.) are great for .38s, steel models (640) are better for magnums. The shape makes for an easier-to-establish grip from the pocket, there's nothing to snag on the draw, and the DA trigger adds a substantial level of safety for the carrier, especially when combined with a quality pocket holster and nothing else in the pocket with the gun. I went to Florida a few weeks back and took my new 642 UC with me. I did a lot of walking with the dog while we were down there, and that gun rode just fine in the pocket of gym shorts or swim trunks for miles. If I'd been running it probably would have bounced around too much in that configuration, but for walks it was no problem.

IWB carry with a P938 is about as lightweight as you'll ever get. Yes, you don't have the capacity that the standard P365 provides, but talk about "melting" into your waistband! My favorite IWB holster is the Milt Sparks Summer Special: "I'm not fluent in the language of violence, but I know enough to get around in places where it's spoken."

365 is my edc pocket gun. A sig 230 or 232 would also work well. ----------------------------------------- Roll Tide! Glock Certified Armorer

Me, too, but don't forget the 365 is available with a 1911-style thumb safety. That's the model I'm thinking of getting. I handled both a Sig and some sort of S&W, same size, both with the thumb safety at my LGS several months ago and thought both safeties would work for pocket carry. Some years ago, an off-duty Chicago Cop reached into her purse to pay for her salon appointment, a pen or pencil got into the trigger guard of her Glock and all the salon patrons had to go home for a change of underwear. That's why I always carry my Glock in a good holster, and why I won't consider owning their sub-compacts. I used to have a couple Browning 380's with both thumb and grip safeties, but I sold them since they were awkward to shoot. Go with the Sig 365 with thumb safety. -------------------------- I always prefer reality when I can figure out what it is.

I never want a 938 until pulicords posts a pic of his legion. Back to the op though, I pocket carry an M&P340 quite often, so an air weight j frame would definitely do the trick.

I carried a P220st for over 30 years, but with age and Hip issues switched to a 365X with a custom Shark Coast Tactical frame and it feels right, fits right and shoots like a Sig. I live in a very warm SW. Florida

I have one of the first P290's that came out. Lots of people had issues with those and I don't think they were ever very popular (hence being sort of quickly discontinued.) But I like it, and despite taking a while to get used to the trigger pull, it shoots pretty well. --------------------------------------

I've pocket carried my P365, but find the j frames are easier to conceal in a lot of my pockets.

But of course we carry co*cked and locked...

I have several Sticky and Remora holsters that I use when I pocket carry. That way the trigger is covered. For me it works well with single stack pistols. ================================================
