FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS for the research study run by Georgia State University

Welcome to the FAQs page. If you have a question about this study you are in the right place.

Q: How much am I going to earn in each session? (1)

A: You will be paid $10 to finish each survey. The final two surveys may take some additional time but you have the opportunity to earn additional money.

Q: How do I get paid? (2)

A: In this study payments will be sent to the PayPal account you provide us. No other means of payment are allowed.

Q: When do I get paid? (3)

A: After completing each survey a payment will be issued to your PayPal account within 48 hours.

Q: Do I need to set up a PayPal account? (4)

A: We will use PayPal to send you the payments so you will get the money quickly. PayPal is a private company and Georgia State University has no authority to handle any disputes you may have with them, nor take any responsibility for your interactions with them.

You must have a PayPal account with the same email address you used to sign up with us in order to receive your payments for the completed surveys.

Please follow these steps to open your PayPal account:

1. Make sure to type or click the link: https://www.paypal.com/us/home
2. Chose to open a personal account
3. Scroll down and click on “Get Started”
4. Insert your email address and mobile number and click “Next”
5. The system sends a text message to confirm your account: enter the 6 digits you have been sent.
6. Insert your information: make sure to enter the same email you have registered for the study with, otherwise we will not be able to send your payments.
7. Enter your address
8. PayPal allows you to link a credit card to your account. A credit card will allow you to use the PayPal account for online purchase using other money than what you get from the study. Click “Not now” if you do not want to link your own credit card to this account.
9. Click “Continue to home”
10. You have completed the registration! You will now be able to receive payments from this study.
You can log in and check your account balance. At any moment you can link your PayPal account to your credit card and your bank account, as well as transfer money to your bank account.

Q: How do I access the money in the PayPal account? (6)

A: Once your payment has been issued, you can use the money on your account to make online payments or you can transfer to your bank account.

Q: Can I use somebody else’s PayPal account? (7)

A: You should open your own account, and make sure to enter the same email in both the registration form of this study and the PayPal account. In case you have an existing PayPal account you want to use, make sure to sign up for the study with the same exact email address you have registered on PayPal.

Q: How much time do I have to finish the survey? (8)

A: There will be a 3-day time limit to finish each survey: from the moment when the link is sent to you, you have 72 hours to complete the questionnaire. Each of the first 4 surveys will take about 10-15 minutes to complete for most people. The last two surveys may take some additional time, but you have the opportunity to earn additional money.

Q: How many links am I going to receive? (9)

A: The study lasts for 6 weeks: during this period, you may receive up to 6 links to different surveys.

Q: When will I get the links to the surveys? (10)

A: You will receive the links between 9am-10am on Tuesdays every week, for up to 6 weeks.

Q: How do I get the links to the surveys? (11)

A: You will receive the links either via email or text message, based on the preference you have expressed when you initially registered.

Q: What happens if I do not finish a survey in time? (12)

A: You must complete the survey before the link expires. The link will expire 72 hours after it has been sent out, which is Friday morning at 9am EDT. In the case you do not complete the survey in time, you will be automatically dropped from the study, and you will not receive any more links in the future weeks.

Q: What if I don't want to receive any more links? (13)

A: You may leave a survey at any time by closing your internet browser. If you choose to leave a survey without finishing it we will not send you any more surveys. If you do not finish the survey we will not pay you for that survey.

Q: Can I retake the survey? (14)

A: You can take each survey only once. Even after you finish the survey the link will still be active, but we will only pay you for the first completed response.
